Wasdale 2008

The first weekend of March saw me have a precious couple of days walking in Walsdale with my brother and cousin Adrian, amongst other friends. What is now an annual bonding experience (see other blog reports 2006 here and 2007 here) more than fullfilled expectations with an ascent of Pillar and a Sunday morning jaunt to the top of the Wasdale screes. Some notable exitement was a powercut in the valley due to high winds. Great blokey fun with some great blokes! My pictures are here and those from Adrian, Dave and the Wasdale Public Conveniences Knitting Club are here.....

And below is a 6 minute video summary...(warning only for those who have a blokey interest in bodily function, being overly picky about choosing breakfast and Jose Mourinho fibres)......

Has John ever thought of entering the local 'World's Biggest Liar' contest, held annually in Wasdale? I just looked down the list of previous winners, half expecting to see his name!

Highlight for me was the lovely moment when Rob walks out to declare that the morning is 'bracing'. Adrian's usual quiet laugh echoing round the otherwise tranquil countryside is a lovely fitting end. Brill!

For me witout doubt the best bit is breakfast, and specifically Rob saying "mine's straight forward, its without sausage" - and all the sniggereing that that generates (about 4.40)!

I thought Peter was having a laugh...but he's dead right - there is a world's biggest liar comp in wasdale. They should have been there when we were around.

Love the breakfast scene, the fussiness is so sincere -just wish we had the full scene captured, when peter asks whether the tomatoes are tinned or fresh.
