Big Family Gathering: Adrian and Dee's 50th

This weekend we had 19 people passing through our home, with 15 of them staying overnight on the Saturday! We were brought together because we hosted Adrian (my cousin) and Dee's joint 50th birthday, which included a coming together of other cousins, including Katie and Shay (recently wedded) and Jenny, NZ via London. A great day, eating, drinking, tree climbing, target Nerf shooting, singing, jamming, was spoiled by Dave (re-)dislocating his shoulder whilst throwing a rugby ball, but nothing but a brief trip to casualty and a dose of morphine couldn't put right, and he was soon back on chirpy form. We had a pleasant walk up to Dalton Crags through the limestone pavements. Marking time, happy days. Untitled Here is a link to the set of photos I took during the visit, Dave and Adrian also have some good ones.

Family ascent of Fairfield

This week all five of us met with Adrian, Dee and Issy to ascend Fairfiield, a 2800 ft classic mountain in the Lake District.  Dad was pleased with how all the family performed!  A glorious Spring day, happy days.   Here is a brief film of a moment's play on a snowfield....

A Happy Mother's Day

Lovely Mother's Day, we had all 3 of the 'Mothers' here, including Gran who is just out of hospital recovering from Hepititus E, so it was a bonus to all be together. Mum (Anne) had to work the daytime, so Grandma Angus Helen and I went to visit Grandpa's grave, then afternoon tea. Anne got home in time for rib of beef meal and to see a totally shattered Matt return from his rugby tour. Here are the photos

Helen's Blog: Helen Haygarth's Helm Hill Race

Untitled, originally uploaded by Phil Haygarth.
Today I went to Helm Hill race, with my Dad. I enjoyed it very much but it was very tiring and long. There was a fast flat start with the wind blowing in your face, then it flipped over to be a very hard climb. Eventually it started to tilt back down to the easy part. It felt good to get a drink at the end of the race. Next me and my dad went and got a caramel bar. My dad wanted to stop and go to look at trails bikes at Clawthorpe and some of his pictures are here.
